THE HONGKONG & WHAMPOA DOCK CO.LTD.
Proposed New 1200 ft. Graving Dock at Hong Kong. With reference to the proposed construction of this large Dry Dock at Hong Kong by this Company, we have the honour to put the following forward for your consideration:-
1 The dimensions of the dock when completed will be 1200 ft. long by 120 ft. width of entrance, with 40 ft. of water on the sill, which will make it the largest dry dock in the world. Closely adjacent to this dock are situated our shipbuilding yards, machine shops and other necessary estab- lishments which are at present exceedingly well equipped with the most modern machinery for shipbuilding and ship repairing.
The Company has acquired the necessary land for the purpose, and are at present levelling the whole of the site which will be occupied by the Dock and Pump House at a cost of about $2,000,000 - This work will be completed in about twelve months time.

3 The further additional cost of building the actual dock, with two caissons, one of which divides the dock in two portions, and all other necessary equipment, will be about
$5,000,000
